Photos counts the original files you upload to it. If a paid plan ends, your library stays readable for 90 days and you can still export it, with the Free watermark on exported photos.
Compare plansEvery upload is checked for malware first. Infected files are refused and never saved, and if the scanner can't give a verdict the upload is refused rather than let through.
Photos looks at what a file really is, not what it claims to be. Only images and videos are accepted, so web pages and scripts can't be slipped in as photos.
Your photos are never in a public folder. They are served through signed links that expire within 12 hours, and deleting a photo stops its links working at once.
A share link can need a password, which is never put in the address. Password guesses are rate limited, and a revoked link stops working straight away.

Yes. They are stored safely and you can download the original at any time, but browsers can't show them, so they appear as a labelled tile without a preview and can't be edited.

No. There is no trash yet, so deleting a photo removes it for good. Photos asks you to confirm first.
Photos exported on the Free plan carry a small Motaware watermark in the corner. Every paid plan exports without it. Your originals are never changed.
Nothing is deleted straight away. Your library becomes read-only for 90 days: you can still view, download and export everything, and existing share links keep working. Subscribe again to make changes.
